MURAKAMI started breeding koi since the early 80's and specializes in go-sanke varieties. Located in Fukui, the farm and mud ponds are managed by Murakami-san, his family and some farm staff.
Prior to breeding, Murakami was an established koi dealer and groomer, who was often seeked by prominent Japanese koi hobbyists, such as Shinji Matsumoto and Nobuo Takigawa.
With his deep experience and keen eyes for koi, Murakamai was credited for spotting and grooming several All Japan Grand Champions, including the 36th, 35th, 32nd, 28th and earlier GCs.

Although relatively unknown overseas, Murakami is well known within Japan koi circles for his knowledge and "eye" for koi. To this day, breeders in Japan would consult Murakami's expertise and source their oya koi from him.
Building on his knowledge and access to top-tier oya koi, Murakami worked hard to achieve breeding success in over two decades and currently produces top grade go-sankes for local koi enthusiasts.

ZION KOI has a long and unique relationship with Murakami, which goes back to the early breeding days. With this partnership, Zion Koi aims to supply top grade Japanese koi, which are not often seen or accessible by koi hobbyists outside of Japan.
